Sandra LaPrall; snl164pp@gmail.com; Acrylic Collage; 16 x 22; Organized Chaos; $400; The dark, deliberate outlines of this piece fragment the composition, mimicking the interplay between our structured self that we present and the tension of the untamed currents just under the surface.
Barbara Powderly; designbypowderly@gmail.com; watercolor; 18x12; No Limits; $380; My alter ego is deeply rooted in nature. Together, we reach, grow, and persevere as free spirits into any storm.
Linda Fisher; cherrypie1951@yahoo.com; Acrylic and oil; 16x20; Vincent’s Cafe in Daytona; $499; A humorous look at my home area with a touch of surreal and impressionistic Van Gogh.
Donna Lovelace-Flora; donnaloveflora37@gmail.com; Photography; 22h x 32w; Bridge to the World's Most Famous Beach; $475; I’ve been drawn to the beauty and mystery of nature ever since I was a little girl. I usually use my camera to investigate the dance of interactions between the ocean shore, hammocks, birds, flowers, bees and butterflies during the daylight hours. It slows me down to enjoy, observe, and be present with the beauty of God’s Creation around me. Most of my exhibited work takes place during the day, usually during the hours after sunrise, and before the setting of the sun. However, there is the other side of me, my alter ego, that loves the night: when the stars appear high in the sky. The flowers and bees and birds are asleep, but man's electric colorful creations light up the architecture, streets, buildings, amusement parks, and bridges of the city, making it come alive. "Bridge to the World's Most Famous Beach" depicts the International Speedway bridge of Daytona Beach, lit up in red, white, and blue glory, at night, casting reflections over the Halifax River. Taken with a Sony A7C 35 mm camera and Tamron Lens. Printed on high quality Canvas and framed with a floating frame.
Kate Weingart; kateweingart@yahoo.com; Mixed media; 29”x20”x2”; Constant becoming; 1200; This painting explores the idea of the alter ego. The face appears to emerge from a shifting field of blue-green marks, as though it is both present and dissolving into its surroundings. I am interested in the uncertainty of where the recognizable self ends and another, less conscious self begins. The figure is not intended as a portrait of a particular person. Instead, the face becomes a landscape: a presence that seems familiar yet remains elusive. The layered gestures, scratches, and translucent passages suggest memory, emotion, and unconscious experience continually altering our sense of identity. The surrounding landscape seems to enter the figure, while the figure simultaneously emerges from it. The alter ego therefore becomes not a separate self, but a hidden or emerging dimension of identity—a self in constant becoming.
Judi Bradford; judibradfordartist@gmail.com; acrylic; 36 x 12; What Water Does; 650; My paintings, evolving from an early career in illustration, have traditionally been observations of the surface. With this painting, I move beyond the familiar into the nature of water—fluid, shifting, transformative, and constantly changing. What Water Does explores water as both subject and metaphor: flowing, dissolving, turning into steam, clouds, ice, bubbles. It reveals unexpected forms and possibilities beneath the surface.
Amber Lyn; lynwyldefineart@gmail.com; Oil; 20x24; I am Her, She is Me; 480; I Am Her, She Is Me explores the acceptance of mental illness as part of the whole self. The two figures reflect the visible and hidden parts of identity, reminding us that struggle does not diminish worth. By embracing both ourselves and others with compassion, we create space for understanding, honesty, and grace.
madeline beaudry; maabeaudr@gmail.com; Mixed Media; 15"x6"x6"; Black Madonna: A Light in the Darkness; 400; The Black Madonna, along with being a spiritual figure to millions, is also an archetype of the divine feminine, embodying cosmic compassion in the face of pain, with the strength of a warrior when confronted by injustice. I confess, I do not even begin to possess such heroic characteristics, but view her as someone I can aspire to and in whom I can take refuge during difficult times. For me, she is the Great Mother whose wisdom, strength and mercy are so desperately needed in today's community of humankind. She is the Mother who draws all into her heart, and leaves none of her children behind.
L C Tobey; lctobey@live.com; Photography; 27.50Hx19.50W; Le Femme; My alter ego carries me to late-19th-century Paris, where I move among artists such as Picasso, Kandinsky, Cézanne, and Impressionist painter and printmaker Berthe Morisot. We spend our days creating, debating, and challenging convention, then gather over drinks as evening settles across Montmartre. Celebrated for its bohemian history, white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur, crowded cafés, and spirited nightclubs, the neighborhood gives us freedom to imagine new ways of seeing the world. In this vibrant circle, I become Le Femme: outspoken, independent, and warmly accepted by her peers. Wearing her signature red lipstick, she enters every studio and café with confidence, ready to defend an idea, encourage a friend, or begin another work of art. She is not merely a visitor to this creative world; she belongs within it, shaping its conversations and leaving her own vivid mark on the movement around her. Through her, I experience the courage to speak plainly, create boldly, and live without apology.
Debbie Nye; heyweezy@aol.com; acrylic; 24x36; Beneath Me; 375; Beneath Me I have always felt most myself near the ocean. Above the surface I may appear quiet, reflective, even peaceful. But underneath lives another part of me — instinctive, powerful, curious, and completely at home in the deep. The shark is not something I fear. She is the part of me that moves without apology, trusts her own direction, and belongs to a world that has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. This is my alter ego: the woman at the surface, and the wild spirit beneath.
Jaye Escudero; jayeescudero01@gmail.com; Acrylic; 8" x 31/2"; Behind the Mask; 100; Art and memories often flow together. My memories of my years in West Africa are filled with the power of their culture, especially their magnificent ritual masks created from a simple piece of wood. I had a dream of the masks and this wood and they flowed into this.
Tess Blum; tessmarieblum@gmail.com; Glass mosaic; 20" x 16"; Fire Horse Unleashed; 895; The fire horse alter ego embodies untamed energy, fierce independence and the courage to burn away old limitations. It acts as a persona for stepping beyond daily constraints to unleash intense creative drive, bold leadership, and a spirit that refuses to be broken or domesticated.
Mindy Colton; equusartist@aol.com; Acrylic mixed media; 24 x 30; Happy Valley; 525; I’m known for my creative horse sculptures. My “Alter Ego” loves to paint when I get the chance. I’ve always been inspired by Renoir and his color palette. I studied the impressionists, and was lucky to grow up and live close to the Metropolitan Museum and all the NYC museums. Attending private art classes and majoring in art from high school through college, drawing and painting was the majority of classes of course. Sometimes I just like to paint for fun. I’m a fan of the watercolor artist Gerald Brommer, and always enjoyed his style and methods. I had family on the coast of Maine and a few years ago I attended a plein aire vacation week in Maine. I worked in watercolor, and had a great time painting the flora and fauna. My favorite place in the US is Colorado. This painting combines images from my imagination mined from those wonderful places.
Joy Bowen; Joyjoyb1957@gmail.com; Oil; 20 x 20; Brilliance at Night; 400; My paintings usually reflect bright colors and the sunny side of life. This painting shows power of darkness and the turmoil that light brings into the night sky.
Kim Martinez; kimmudclayart@gmail.com; Polymer Clay on Wrapped Canvas; 16x20; Sweeter Than Honey; 1200; This piece represents my spiritual connection to God and nature. I consider myself a pollinator, spreading the presence of of our Creator and His creations though my art.
Yolanda Helle; artbyyhelle1@gmail.com; Acrylic; 20x24; Horizon Glow; 950; For this exhibit, I wanted to try something a little different from my usual style, reflecting a quieter side of my work. I didn’t use palette knives, and I kept the colors more subdued to give the painting a calmer, more atmospheric feel.
Rosanne Engelhardt; rosanne@rosanne.info; mixed; 12" X 9"; Remembering; 175; This artwork portrays my warrior alter ego, a persona that establishes a vital psychological boundary. By stepping into this position of power, I can safely explore heavy themes from my past without risk of re-traumatization. While I am fulfilled by where I am in life today, this character serves as a powerful reminder of the hills, valleys, and complex webs I have successfully navigated. It honors the survival that continues to propel me forward during times of doubt.
Ricki Stofsky; rstofsky@gmail.com; Mixed Media; 36”x12”; Ambivert; 400; An Ambivert is a personal who sits in the middle of the personality spectrum. While I mostly appear to be energetic, social and talkative… my alter ego (less familiar side)is quiet, reflective and likes to listen. My painting expresses this in the abstract.
Nancy Wozniak; ngoodwine@me.com; charcoal and pastel; 26 x 23; I think I need some earrings; 1000; As an artist who loves animals, it is all about connection. Cows are one my favorite subjects because they are such genuine and unpretentious beings. And yet, there she is sporting a beautiful cowbell, and me with a camera phone wearing earrings. As her gaze connected with mine, I knew that is what she wanted; a nice pair of earrings to complete the look!
Sandy Mason Clark; sandymason1103@gmail.com; Oil; 12”x 16”; “Secret Thoughts”; 800; For me, this painting represents the child within. The thoughts and insecurities we carry and trying to determine the best choices for myself.
Lauri Schumacher; schumacher73@msn.com; Acrylic on canvas; 18x24; HER; 125; HER- I want to be her .. the version of myself that sits on the beach on some island with no one to answer to but HERself Or maybe SHE wants to be the woman she’s gazing at on the boat ….
Shirley Suski; claylips@gmail.com; Mixed; 23” X 12”; Fanny the flamingo; 550; I enjoy bird watching and birds are prevalent in my art. The flamingo is unique to my work because it is larger than usual and it involves several techniques. It is more of a mixed media sculpture. The flamingo sculpted from raku clay and was fired in an aluminum foil saggar. The legs were constructed with hardware onto a wood base. It was a challenge to make it work together.
Beth Carroll; bethwaltcarroll@gmail.com; Acrylic; 12w x 36h; Fashionista; 400; Quirky, colorful and geometric, this Fashionista mirrors my taste in artwork and fashion!
Kathy Kurke; kathykurke@me.com; paper clay (painted) sculpture; 17 1/2" x 18 1/2"; Me.Com; 950; My Alter Ego : “Me.Com” Please enjoy my first ever attempt to make a sculpture in clay and I think she represents my Alter Ego in many ways. As and I love to create abstracted works of others, including one I did a long time ago of two giraffes. My medium is mostly collaged with hand painted papers. But what would my Alter Ego artist do? Definitely make a sculpture which I have never done before, the subject would be me. I would be my favorite animal, a giraffe (because they make me laugh). Instead of wearing blue, I would have yellow fur. I would still love tea, collect teapots, go to law school, study, become a lawyer, but upon retirement I would paint and make jewelry, love to go out on my boats, play Mahjong regularly, need reading eye glasses and my email would end in “me.com"
Michelle Delisle; michelleadelisle@gmail.com; acrylic and gel medium on canvas; 24 x 36; The Girl I Wanted to Be (California Dreaming); 750; As a little girl, I was equal parts tomboy and girly girl. I dreamed of living in California, being fearless, carefree and, most importantly, being much better on a skateboard than I actually was. This painting is my alter ego: the cool, confident California girl I imagined I could be. She actually emerged over an older painting, with pieces of that original work still showing through in her silhouette, almost as though she had been hiding there all along. Look closely and you’ll find the word “ME” tucked into the background more than once, a playful reminder that beneath all the layers, daydreams and different versions of ourselves, there’s always a little bit of “me” hiding underneath.
Deborah Hildinger; dhildingerart@gmail.com; Mixed Media; 12x8”; Nature Series: Self, Nature, Family; 200; Nature Series: Self, Nature, Family explores the interconnected layers of identity that exist beneath the surface. Each shadow box reveals a different facet of my world—myself, my connection to nature, and the importance of family. The familiar black geometric forms initially appear quiet and restrained, but within each box is a small, intimate world of color, texture, found objects, and symbolism. Like an alter ego, these hidden images reveal another side of who I am—one shaped by observation, memory, creativity, and relationships. More than meets the eye, the work invites the viewer to look beyond the exterior and discover the personal stories and connections contained within.
Jamie Miceli; jmiceliart@gmail.com; oil; 18x24; Srappy; 800; Scrappy is the style of background that is sanded down and scrapped up to show the imminent bird fight over a fish. Although, I use Sanded down boards on occasion the effects aren't usually visible. Scrappy can also refer to the seagull ready to steal the fish and the 2 other egos at play like the Heron trying to keep it's catch and the fish trying to keep it's life. The question then becomes which "Alter-ego" do you identify with?
Wendy Blood; artzwr1224@gmail.com; Mixed (Packing tape transfer, ink); 16x16; The Vanilla Me; 95; On the surface, my outer core is quiet, conventional and seemingly black and white. I navigate the ordinary routine of life like everyone else. My inner core screams of spontaneous colors and vibrant bold experiences of cultures, letting loose that tightness I’ve had throughout art. Being able to push my art into bold expressionistic canvases of movement and color. Oh, to collide both worlds, free of uninhibited possibilities, I can only imagine how inspired my work could be.
Katheryn Hammer-Witty; khammerwitty1@gmail.com; oil; 19 x 25; In Costume; 395; Through customed figures and atmospheric brushstrokes, this painting embodies the Alter Ego, reminding us that we are all merely players upon a stage.
Heather Wolynic; heatherwolynic@gmail.com; acrylic on canvas; 24" x 36"; Orange Crush; 1400; Orange Crush explores the different sides of who we are. The oranges represent energy, passion and confidence, while the delicate blossoms bring in a softer, more vulnerable side. I love using the bold color and contrasting elements to make people stop, look closer and find their own personal meaning in the work. To me, these contrasting elements represent the different sides of my own personality - my own alter ego.
erin mccullough; em_mango2002@yahoo.com; Oil; 25”x35”; Hidden; 550; People often comment on how I appear calm and confident. Easy going. And, while I'm able to enjoy some social interaction, I'm often depleted afterwards. Im hounded by insecurities and find it necessary to recharge with something bigger than me- often nature, solitude, and creativity.
Stephanie Zing; info@bohemianartcafe.com; Assemblage--collage, acrylic paint, ink, found objects, textiles, feathers, clay; 9" x 7"; Queen of the Jungle; 400; Queen of the Jungle explores the powerful, mysterious persona that can exist beneath a familiar exterior. Through assemblage, I created a woman who is part portrait, part imagined alter ego—confident, watchful, sensual, and connected to the wild. Her feathered headdress and jeweled adornments suggest transformation and ceremony, while the lush green surroundings evoke the untamed landscape within. The single prominent eye becomes a symbol of perception: seeing beyond appearances, observing the world, and perhaps seeing a version of oneself that is not always revealed to others. The layered materials, textures, handwritten marks, and found objects reflect the many fragments that make up identity. Queen of the Jungle represents the side of myself that is more fearless, instinctive, playful, and unapologetically expressive. She is not simply a portrait of a woman; she is an imagined embodiment of strength and freedom—the artist stepping outside the expected and becoming someone else.
Julie Latayan; juliejstudio@hotmail.com; Acrylic painting; 24x24”; Cherry; 650; Everyone knows me as a sculptor. For the past 12-15 years I have worked mostly in clay. Until clay- my life was being a painter. In the resent weeks painting is beginning to interest me and I have produced several paintings.
Teri Althouse; teri@avanistudios.com; rust, oil, cold wax; 24x36; Petals & Plumes; 1500; This piece explores the "alter ego" through contrasting layers. I used oil and cold wax to create a soft, vibrant surface of nesting cockatoos, but painted it over a raw, rusted foundation. The wax is the persona we show the world, while the gritty rust breaking through from underneath represents the hidden, resilient self that grounds us.
Denise Vezza Maggiore; VezzaMaggiore@gmail.com; Mixed Media - 2-part installation 3-D display; 8x10 photo and size 4 boys canvas shoes; "Walking Wear My Feet Take Me." a self portrait; 500; This 2-piece self portrait is depicted by hand-painted pair of canvas shoes and a framed photo montage of my feet wearing the shoes in my garden and my the shoes in my yard overlaid with my shadow. The photo and the shoes should accompany each other as a single display installation. The attached photo is for information only.
